Spring Cleavers Recipes

Cleavers is a boost for your immune and lymphatic systems!  You'll know it's cleavers because it "cleaves" to your clothes. If it doesn't stick to you, it isn't cleavers.

Cleavers Vinegar

Gather a jarful of young, vibrant green cleavers.  Stuff the jar full so that the plants feel "bouncy" when you push down on them! Add apple cider vinegar to cover the plants, and then push the cleavers down and add another inch of vinegar.  Put a non-metal top on the jar and let it marinate for a month. Note:  If you only have metal tops, put wax paper or plastic between the vinegar and the metal top so it won't corrode.

Cleavers Juice

You can put fresh cleavers in your Blendtek, blender, or juicer. I add equal parts water and the juice of a lemon or lime. It's delicious. I also like to add cucumber, mint, celery, beet, or parsley. I do not strain it. Of course, you can make a wild spring drink with any combo of our favorites: cleavers, nettles, violet, dandy, yellow dock, mallow, etc.

May the spring bless you with time to get outside and pick your wild greens!
